The Beast in the Jungle is the ninth and final episode of The Haunting Of Bly Manor.
Synopsis[]
The dream is done, yet danger prevails. Hannah summons the courage to act. A fate worse than death threatens everyone at Bly. Who will pay the price?
Plot[]
The episode reverts back to Bly Manor and the narrator's story. Hannah is seen talking with Owen, and it becomes clear that she is aware that the majority of those at Bly Manor — including herself — are dead. Hannah expresses her concerns that she is slipping further from Bly Manor sooner than she thought, and that she will suffer the same fate as the other ghosts; still here, but absent of personality.
Dani, however, is dragged away from Bly Manor by the Lady of the Lake, but is stopped by Hannah who stands in their way. Viola is unwilling to be stopped, however, and manages to overcome the obstacle that is Hannah; she is met by further resistance, however, when Flora stands in her way. To Viola, however, Flora eerily resembles her daughter, Isabel, which is enough of a distraction, causing Viola to release Dani, and take Flora as her prisoner. Viola begins to walk towards the lake, but Flora screams mercilessly for Rebecca's help. The screams aren't met with a response, however, and Rebecca is too preoccupied with Peter and his possession of Flora's older brother, Miles. Henry shows up moments later but is knocked out instantly.
On par with Henry's arrival, Jamie and Owen show up moments later at Bly Manor and head down to the lake immediately. In an unexpected move , and just as Flora is being carried into the lake, Dani tells Viola that "it's us, a welcome invitation for Viola to possess her. This is enough to convince Viola to release Flora. Just as Viola has been freed from her eternal imprisonment at Bly Manor, so too are the numerous other ghosts freed from their eternal perdition.
Things change at Bly Manor following Viola's release and an eerie peacefulness descends on the country manor. Henry finally changes his ways and is able to begin caring for the children, telling them stories about Bly Manor. He does, however, promise to keep what truly happens to the children, who are unable to remember things when they grow up. Owen becomes a successful chef, but is haunted by the memories and feelings he held for Hannah.
Dani, however, is troubled with the presence of Viola within her. Despite having left Bly with Jamie — and believing she could be truly happy with her — she returns years later to Bly Manor after an episode in which she nearly strangles Jamie to death during the night. Returning Viola to the lake, Dani vows that nobody will be taken by her ever again, and descends into the lake one last time.
Jamie struggles with this, however, and searches for Dani (and the Lady in the Lake) in the lake each night. It is revealed that the narrator is in fact, Jamie, and as she leaves the house that night, Dani touches her shoulder and it is revealed that she has been watching her all along.

Notes[]
- It is revealed that Jamie is the narrator of the story.
- The episode marks the release of all ghosts at Bly Manor, allowing the manor to become peaceful for the first time in hundreds of years.
- Flora and Miles are unable to recall anything that happened to them as children.
- Interestingly, nothing is mentioned about the ghosts of Edmund and Peter Quint, nor what happened to them.
- It is assumed that Peter was released with the other ghosts at Bly Manor.
- However, Edmund's ghost was not initially trapped by Viola's gravity well but Dani's grief, so it is unknown if he was able to move on once it dissipated. He very well could have stayed with Dani until she finally got over his death, whenever that was
